At Prairie Cannabis, we believe in giving back to our communities and uplifting organizations that create lasting change. This Black History Month, we are proud to support the Black Star Project through our Black History Month Donation Day. On February 26th, 5% of proceeds from the sales of select brands will be donated to The Black Star Project. The Black Star Project (TBSP) is committed to improving academic and economic prosperity in underserved communities. Black Star works through a variety of educational economic empowerment programs, workshops, and events to empower these communities of color. You can also donate at the register at any Prairie Cannabis location through March 8th!
About Black Star Project
With 29 years of community outreach, The Black Star Project (TBSP) remains a pillar in advancing Black and Latinx prosperity through youth programs that address the racial academic achievement gap. Over the years, TBSP has launched more than 30 initiatives, including Building Chicago’s Next CEO, Million Father March, Saturday University, and the Mayor’s Mentoring Initiative. Its work spans education, economic empowerment, housing, violence prevention, workforce development, and criminal justice reform—evolving to meet the needs of the communities it serves.
Why This Matters
In Chicago, many communities continue to face challenges related to violence, educational disparities, and limited access to mentorship. The Young Black Men of Honor (YBMOH) program addresses these gaps by connecting students ages 10–18 with strong, supportive male mentors who encourage them to become positive forces in their communities.
Through structured guidance and meaningful relationship-building, YBMOH participants engage in discussions around mental health, conflict resolution, early career pathways, business in sports, and other critical life topics. By fostering leadership, accountability, and personal growth, the program empowers young men with the tools and confidence needed to succeed both academically and beyond.
How You Can Support
On February 26th, 5% of proceeds from the sales of select cannabis brands will be donated to The Black Star Project. Customers can also support by donating directly at checkout with $1, $3, or $5 contributions via the POS system through March 8th. Your support helps fund:
